Dem Rising Aims to Raise Awareness About the Freedoms of Democracy That Are Being Lost.

Our American Democracy and its values didn’t come without a fight, actually, a Revolution. In the Declaration of Independence, our Founding Fathers petitioned the King of England to grant relief from 27 of the King’s oppressive practices.

Among the King’s transgressions, quoted here verbatim from the Declaration of Independence:

“For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world”

“For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent”

“For depriving us in many cases, the benefits of Trial by Jury”

“For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offenses”

The King ignored the petition. The Revolution and Constitution soon followed, along with the freedoms of living in a vibrant Democracy. However today, more than a dozen of the colonist’s grievances have reappeared, but now, coming from within our current government. Those who would swap our Democracy, for the sake of increasing their own power, are attempting to control us largely unchecked.  If successful, we will lose our Bill of Rights, our Constitution and all the Freedoms that a healthy Constitutional Democracy affords us.

It is painfully clear how salient the founder’s grievances are today, and how the loss of Democracy is happening right before our eyes for the very reasons that the most successful republic in human history was created.

It is our purpose in Dem Rising to Retake Democracy by raising awareness of its value to every American. We endeavor to spread the personal and societal benefits of Democracy by getting the message out any way we can, and as effectively as we can, to audiences who hold the key to reversing its erosion. At Dem Rising, we share a powerful urge to Retake the Freedoms of Democracy from those who would abandon it.
